Numerous studies have shown that public speaking consistently ranks as our number one fear in life.. which is not ideal, considering many of us have to do this regularly as part of our jobs. In my work as an Executive Coach - anxiety around giving presentations is one of the key issues that arises time and time again. But why do we dislike it so much? And more importantly, what can we do to help calm our nerves? Check out these simple and handy tips and start building your confidence as a calm and capable presenter...


1. And.... breathe

If you learn one thing from reading this post, then try and make it this. In the moments before giving a presentation your body is in 'fight or flight' mode. Your heart is probably beating rapidly, your mouth is dry and you might feel a bit sick. You're likely to have quick and shallow breathing and your mind has gone blank. Sound familiar?
