Mary Musselbrook, Executive Coach
Business awareness with psychological depth
My approach throughout my working life has centred on “the individual” as the critical,
energy-giving element in sustained organisational success. Coaching pays good attention to what the individual has to offer - and builds on it."
Mary brings to coaching a valuable blend of senior management experience as a Director of Human Resources in industry, combined with experience as a consultant business psychologist.
The Coaching Journey
I believe that a successful coaching journey starts with becoming really clear on the personal change outcome the executive wants to achieve and its relevance to their work. With this established, I work with people to explore their capability and potential; to shed light on their underlying motivations and perspectives; to map their context; to identify and understand the choices that are available to them; to build confidence and capability in relation to the issues they are grappling with. I work with them to embed a strong resolve for sustainable personal change and to build the skills and strategies that will enable them to grow and develop within their team and their organisation."
The techniques and models I use in the coaching work will flex according to the person and their needs. What remains constant is my commitment to facilitating the individual in progressing towards meaningful goals for their personal growth as a leader."
Words used in feedback to me about my coaching style include: “searching, supportive, challenging, builds rapport, insightful; aware of the wider business context, pragmatic, engaged; creates clear boundaries of confidentiality."
Coaching adds value
All my programmes operate with attention to "return on investment" (ROI). The investment is financial of course. More critically, it is also an investment of the executive's time.
At the outset of a coaching programme, I work with the executive/leader to create a tangible measure of success that is meaningful for them and for their organisation.
At key milestones in the coaching journey input/feedback is elicited from any agreed contributors and data sources. When we finish, we reflect on the journey made and the changes achieved.
